Rachel Walshe is an actor, writer and director from Meath. Her radioplay Jumping for Joy, which she also voiced, is due to be released Autumn 2022. Her short film, Measuring Stick, which she also wrote and directed, was featured on the Irish Film Circuit including GAZE, IndieCork and Dublin International Comedy Film Festival. Her second short, Attend to Your Own Mask First, (funded by Meath County Council) is due to debut this summer.
For film, Rachel can be seen in the award winning LGBT+ short The Choice, Not Quite Dead (Yet) (Actor As Creator Scheme, Cork International Film Festival 2021, CIALA Film Festival 2021) and Eve (Mo O’Connell, Dublin Smartphone Film Festival 2021). Rachel recently provided additional voicing for the upcoming Channel 5 Drama Witness No. 3, directed by Diarmuid Goggins (KIN)
For theatre, Rachel played Lady Macbeth, directed by Nuno Theodoro in 2018 at the Teachers Club and worked with Colette Cullen in her workshop of her play, Family Tree, in Smock Alley, 2018. She also completed a national tour with Talisman Theatre Company, performing as Trixie in Santa’s Fairytale Christmas in theatres across Ireland. She directed Kat Ennis’ play SKINNED at this years Scene + Heard Festival (2022)
Rachel also mezzo soprano singing range, plays guitar and ukulele and writes short narrative fiction – she was shortlisted for the RTÉ Short Story Competition in 2021.
